Lightning Lane is Disney's skip-the-queue system. As resort guests you can book up to 7 days before each park visit. The most popular rides go fast — book first thing each morning.

30 minutes before the public opens the gates is worth more than any paid pass. Head straight for the busiest rides — queues are a fraction of what they'll be by 10am.

Expect afternoon rain — don't panic
April in Florida means short, sharp afternoon thunderstorms. Pack a small poncho (not an umbrella — too awkward). The rain usually clears within 30 minutes and the air cools beautifully.

Free iced water everywhere
Any quick-service restaurant in the parks will give you a free cup of iced water if you ask. Bring a refillable bottle — there are water fill stations throughout all four parks.

Mobile order your food
Use My Disney Experience to pre-order from counter service restaurants. You skip the queue entirely and just collect when it's ready. Saves loads of time at busy lunch periods.

Wear the most comfortable shoes you own
You will walk 15,000–25,000 steps a day at Disney. Blisters will ruin your trip faster than anything else. No new shoes — wear your most broken-in, comfortable trainers.

Take a rest day — you'll need it
With 14 days you don't need a park every day. The resort pool, Disney Springs (free entry, great food and shopping) or just a lie-in are all valid options. The parks are exhausting!

Getting from the airport to the resort
Disney's old free Magical Express no longer runs. From Orlando Airport (MCO), take an Uber or Lyft — about $35–45 and a 30-minute drive. Just open the app at the airport and search for your hotel name.

Jet lag is real — plan for it
Orlando is 5 hours behind the UK. You'll likely wake at 5am for the first few days — actually brilliant for early park entry! Don't plan anything too late on your first evening.

Expect 27–30°C (80–86°F) with sunshine and humidity. Pack light breathable clothing, good walking shoes, SPF50+ sunscreen and sunglasses. Evenings can be slightly cooler so bring a light layer.

US plugs & power
The US uses Type A/B plugs at 120V. Bring a universal travel adaptor. Most modern phone chargers are dual voltage (check for 100–240V on the plug) so they'll work fine with just an adaptor.

American BBQ done properly — pulled pork, smoked chicken, mac & cheese and ribs. Located in the American Adventure pavilion. One of the best quick service meals in any Disney park. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable for EPCOT.

Animal Kingdom — Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes
Quick and tasty Asian-inspired food right in Asia — honey chicken, teriyaki bowls and fried rice. Very popular so mobile order is essential. The sit-down Yak & Yeti restaurant next door is also brilliant if you want a proper table service meal in Animal Kingdom.

Hollywood Studios — Docking Bay 7
Sit inside a working hangar bay in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Unique sci-fi themed food — try the Fried Chicken Tip Yip (basically the best fried chicken) or the Smoked Kaadu Ribs. Very cool atmosphere even if you're not a Star Wars fan.

Disney Springs — affordable options
Disney Springs is free to enter and has loads of brilliant, affordable restaurants. Blaze Pizza does build-your-own pizzas quickly and cheaply. Splitsville is a bowling alley-restaurant with great food at reasonable prices — burgers, sushi, flatbreads. D-Luxe Burger is widely considered the best burger on all of Disney property. Perfect for a rest day when you're not in the parks.

Money-saving grocery tip
A quick Walmart or Target run early in your trip is well worth it. Stock up on bottled water, breakfast snacks and a few easy items — it'll save you a fortune compared to buying everything in the parks or at the resort.

Universal is about 10 miles from Disney — definitely worth a day if you want a change of scenery. Home to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and brand new Epic Universe (opened 2025)!

Getting there — Uber or Lyft
The easiest option. Open Uber or Lyft and search for "Universal CityWalk" (for Studios & Islands of Adventure) or "Epic Universe Rideshare" (for the new Epic Universe park). Cost is around $20–35 each way and takes about 20–25 minutes. Check both apps for the best price.

Money-saving tip for getting there
Take the free Disney bus to Disney Springs first, then get an Uber/Lyft from there to Universal — it can save a few pounds on the fare. On the way back, ask your driver to drop you at Disney Springs and jump on the free Disney bus back to the hotel.

Important: Disney buses don't go to Universal
Disney's free transport only goes to Disney destinations. You cannot get a Disney bus to Universal — you must use Uber, Lyft or a taxi. There is no official shuttle between the two parks, so plan and budget for the rideshare cost both ways.

What's at Universal?
Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are the two main parks — both can be done in one day with a Park-to-Park ticket. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter spans both parks and is absolutely unmissable. Epic Universe (opened 2025) is a brand new third park with worlds based on Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and more. Buy tickets in advance online at universalorlando.com.

ESTA — everyone needs oneApply at esta.cbp.dhs.gov — the official US government site. About $40 per person, valid 2 years, usually approved within minutes. Don't leave it to the last minute!
Passport checkMake sure it's valid for your whole stay. Check today — UK renewals can take weeks when it's busy.
Travel insuranceUS medical bills are eye-watering. Get covered the moment you book — it protects your flights too.
⚠️ Only use the official ESTA site. Copycat websites appear above it in Google and charge double for exactly the same thing.
As resort guests at All Star Movies, all Disney transport is completely free. You genuinely don't need a hire car — Disney's system covers everywhere you'll want to go.
Disney Buses
Main transport from All Star Movies
Direct buses run from All Star Movies to all 4 parks, both water parks and Disney Springs. A tip: All Star Movies is usually the last stop on the route so allow extra time. Aim to catch the bus 60 minutes before your target park opens to make the most of early entry.
Disney Skyliner
Gondola gondola system — worth experiencing
The Skyliner gondola connects several resorts to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. You can't board it directly from All Star Movies, but hop on a bus to Pop Century Resort and jump on from there. The views from 60ft up are spectacular — absolutely worth doing at least once.
Monorail
Magic Kingdom & EPCOT loop
The monorail loops between Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary resorts and EPCOT. Take a bus to Magic Kingdom, then ride the monorail onward — it's a classic Disney experience and the views of Cinderella Castle are stunning.
Ferry Boats
Magic Kingdom approach
A large ferry boat crosses the Seven Seas Lagoon to Magic Kingdom from the Transportation & Ticket Center. It's slower than the monorail but far more scenic — a proper Disney arrival moment. Highly recommended for your first Magic Kingdom visit.
Uber & Lyft
For quick trips or days out
Both apps work perfectly at Disney World. Great if you want a day at Universal Studios (about 20 mins away) or if bus waits get long. Minnie Vans are Disney-themed Lyfts seating up to 6 — fun but 2–3x more expensive than a regular Lyft. Regular rideshare costs around £10–20 within the resort area.

What should I wear on the day?+
Smart/formal please — but make sure your shoes are comfortable because there will be a fair bit of walking involved. Ladies, cobblestones and stilettos are not a match made in heaven! The vibe is elegant but this is Disney, so have a bit of fun with it. One more thing — we'd suggest staying away from dark colours if you can, they get really warm in the Florida heat. It's not a strict rule, just a personal recommendation from us — you'll thank us later! 😄
Will I need a park ticket for the 6th?+
No need to worry about this one — everyone will have a park ticket sorted for the day. We've got you covered! Full details on what's planned will be in The Big Day tab on 5 April. 🎟️
Is food and drink provided?+
Yes — everything at the reception is fully taken care of, food and drinks included! One thing to bear in mind though: the ceremony doesn't start until 5pm, so please make sure you've had a good breakfast or lunch beforehand. You don't want to be running on empty for what we've got planned! 🎉
What time does everything start on the 6th?+
The ceremony starts at 5pm. We've arranged a coach to collect everyone from the front of All Star Movies Resort — the exact pickup time will be confirmed in The Big Day reveal on 5 April so keep an eye on that tab. For anyone making their own way, just make sure you're at the venue ready for 5pm. 🚌

We're having an unplugged ceremony — so we'd ask everyone to put phones away and just be fully present in the moment with us. 📵 No sneaky selfies during the vows! There will be dedicated photo opportunities during the celebrations afterwards though — and that's exactly what the Photos tab on this app is here for. We want all your memories! 📸
What's the weather likely to be like?+
You're in for a beautiful evening! April in Florida means lovely warm sunshine — around 27–30°C (80–86°F). It can get a little breezy as the sun goes down so it's worth packing a light layer. And yes — comfortable shoes, again! You'll be outdoors so leave the heels at the hotel. ☀️

Is there a dress code colour?+
No strict colour code — smart/formal is all we're asking for. The only thing we'd say is please avoid white or ivory, you know the tradition! Beyond that, dress to make yourself feel amazing. This is a Disney wedding — be as fabulous as you like. ✨

Yes — there will be full seating for both the ceremony and the reception so no standing around! Sit back, relax, and enjoy every moment. 🪑
